Racial Disparities in Healthcare

I challenged myself with this class after a trauma experience to my surprise this class taught me things that I had not really looked clearly at. Once the class began and I understood it more I was able to instantly notice when there was a racial disparity not only in healthcare but everyday life. How people respond to you being a black woman vs how they may give a response to another nationalities. Understanding how to appropriately respond and how to effectively search to give facts when a racial disparity may occur. This class is a class everyone must take not only for self understanding but so that you know what to do and what not to do when placed in awkward situations. I was very pleased with this class. The professor was patient when it came to explaining things and knowledgeable with the facts during presentations. The homework assignments were easy to maneuver when finding answers for your responses. I appreciate the professor for taking the time to bring an enlightenment that I had no idea I was experiencing

The information and conversation Dr. Appleton provided throughout this course enlightens us on how necessary the conversation of Racial Disparities in Health Care is. With the knowledge of the concepts explained throughout, I was able to have a real conversation with my health care teams and truly establish informed consent as well as other issues which will better our interactions.
